Tea for Two - Top down tea cozy
My good buddy Mel (nic name) wanted a tea cozy. Not just the plop on the top kind of tea cosy.....she had a special request. and I quote. It has to have a hole for the spout and a hole for the handle and you have to be able to take the lid off the pot to remove the tea bags or add more boiling water. OH BROTHER!
So I set off to find such a pattern and this is what I came up with. I dove into my stash picked out two fun co-ordinating fabric. Tucked between the fabrics is insulated batting, to keep the pot (well the tea) hot. Grosgrain drawstring tightens the cozy around the pot, with the spout peaking out on one side and the lip and top exposed.
The end creation is being modelled by my tea pot which has a handle on the top. But Mel's teapot has a handle opposite the spout and it is a fatter tea pot so it should fill out the middle part nicely and expose the handle on the left side through the opening.
I think it's pretty cute and now that I have mastered the pattern I am going to whip up a couple more as gifts. Thanks for the idea Mel........Oh shhhhh it's for her birthday in a couple of days.

love the tea cozy design. It reminds me of a Japanese version. How far has this come from crochet??
